Divine Space of Infinity, Summerwell Festival, Romania
Summerwell 2022 is an invitation for renewal and regeneration. After experiencing the isolation and disconnection of the pandemic, we now value our interactions in a more nuanced way. A continuation of Space Objekt and Reza Hasni's ongoing collaboration, the installation, Divine Space of Infinity, consists of "The Entrance" and "The Piazza", two artistic interventions that encourage viewers to explore and have a deeper appreciation for what it means to convene.
At "The Entrance", a series of faces in profile welcomes visitors to the festival while they gaze up at the divine universe. An arched backdrop forms a gateway featuring geometric designs, and an illustration of a man entering a wormhole or a portal is a symbol and harbinger for things to come — an auspicious omen at the start of the festival.
“The Piazza” is a place of rest, a meeting point, a landmark, a nexus expanding out into the festival’s grounds. As with a town square, it is a multidimensional space activated by the people who engage with it. Located in the middle of Summerwell, it is the beating heart of the festival — as humorously referenced by the silhouette of the mirrored arches at the centre of the installation, which also allude to the rib cage that protects our vital organs. From this vantage point, the work fans out into three stations with intimate spaces for conversation, reflection, or gazing out into nature and the cosmos. Marked by the Ouroboros (an ancient symbol for eternity and rebirth), they allow visitors to pause, reignite their spirit, and bask in a moment in space and time. When viewed from above, the installation is reminiscent of crop circles, carrying within it hidden messages calling for connectivity, unity, and change. These connections are points of relation guiding us as we gather together to dream of a better collective future.
